'Buffy's' Ethan Rayne, Robin Sachs Dies at 61

What a terrible first post back from hiatus! It is with a somber heart we report that British actor Robin Sachs, best know for playing the deliciously dark Ethan Rayne on Buffy, died last week just a few days short of his 62nd birthday. He was only on 4 episodes but he definitely made a big impact on the entirety of the story and added great texture to the background of Giles' character and his Ripper past. I always loved in "A New Man" when Ethan and Giles are sitting in the bar and Ethan says "I know we're not particularly fond of each other, Rupert, but we are a couple of old mystics" in that buttery voice of his. One of my favorite lines in one of my favorite episodes. His passing is such sad news.

According to his official webpage, the death was sudden and unexpected. No other details of his death have been reported. Staff wrote: "Please join us in raising a glass to Robin - goodbye, dear friend. Thank you for all the laughter and the cookies. We will miss you so very much."
